Costa Brava

The Villa is situated in Sa Punta, Platja de Pals. The Costa Brava is one of Spain’s best-kept secrets. This rugged coastline extends northeast of Barcelona to the French border. The coast here is scenic and rugged, with coves, cliffs, and mountain-top lookouts. Picturesque towns and villages such as Pals, Llafranc, Cadaques, Calella de Palafrugell and Port Lligat can be found all along the Costa Brava, as well as the Greek and Roman ruins of Empuries.

The best parts of the Costa Brava are still truly beautiful, with the northerly stretch dotted with perfect small beaches in rocky coves surrounded by pine clad hills. Strictly speaking the Costa Brava runs out at Blanes, a few miles north of Barcelona but, as do most people, we include Barcelona.

Because of the rugged coast, the region hasn’t seen anywhere near the mass of new developments that have sprung up in the Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol and being only an hour or so from the resorts in the South of France, the Costa Brava is a lot closer to the rest of mainland Europe.

The Catalan cuisine is, no doubt, one of the most outstanding in Spain. The cuisine is based on a mixture of the land and the sea, of the sweet and the salty.

The Costa Brava boasts excellent sporting facilities including cycling, hand-gliding, parachuting, horse riding, hiking and golf. There are also watersports available at the numerous yacht clubs and marinas. Windsurfing, water skiing, sailing and diving to name but a few. An abundance of museums can be found throughout the Costa Brava, perhaps the most famous being the Salvador Dali museum in Figueres, which attracts hundreds of visitors daily, his home in nearby Cadaques is also well worth a visit.
